This pastel is an immersion in Valaisian heritage, inspired by the majesty of the Matterhorn and the ancestral presence of the Hérens cattle — two icons of a territory where nature and tradition answer each other.
Facing this mineral verticality, the queens embody quiet strength, rustic nobility. I chose to depict them in an almost sculptural pose, frozen in silent contemplation.
Through this drawing, I wanted to portray this idyllic Valais breathing authenticity and serenity. The colours convey that moment when winter gently yields to the light of spring.
A raccard and a barn recall the human presence: humble and respectful, witnesses to a way of life in harmony with nature.
